Andram (S. "Long Wall", Q."Andaramba") was the name of the dividing fall running across Beleriand. Ramdal (S. Wall's End) at the eastern end was where the dividing fall ceased.
Geography[]
The Andram was a long escarpment running from west to east across the breadth of Beleriand. The ridge was characterized by steep cliffs, rugged hills, and impassable heights in certain areas, though it was broken by key passes and river valleys. Its most notable geographical feature was the Falls of Sirion, where the River Sirion plunged over the escarpment before flowing southward into Nan-Tathren. The Andram's rugged terrain also included significant passes, such as those near Eithel Ivrin, which provided critical routes for travelers and armies navigating Beleriand.
The Andram itself was not densely populated due to its rugged nature, but several groups lived along its borders and utilized its features. In the west, it bordered the lands of Nargothrond, under the rule of Finrod Felagund, while in the east, near Amon Ereb, it was influenced by the Sons of Fëanor, particularly Caranthir and Amrod and Amras, who maintained control over eastern Beleriand.
