Antichrists - Aksel Waldemar Johannessen

The Anahristo or Anahristor , also called Cuptamo or Útulyando (Q."Deceiver"), are a supposed being or group of beings, often associated with the the Master of Lies and the Great Deceiver, that opposed the One in his incarnate form (that of Elpino) in the sixth and following ages. The Anahristo therefore is usually imagined as a demonic being or a mortal possessed by a demonic spirit - a dark counterfeit of the Elpino - but also as a group, a number of mortal men embodying the principle of the Anahristo or "not-Elpino" and enemies of him, his followers and disciples.

They were described as "the one who denounced the father and the son", as a false prophet, a deceiver and as an impostor who claimed to be the One himself, performing great signs and wonders. The later traditions and legends about the Anahristo however are confused, unclear and contradicting and partially of dubious origin.

Notes[]

The "Antichrist" does not appear in any of J. R. R. Tolkien's writings. The figure of Herumor the Dark Lord in his unfinished sequel to The Lord of the Rings, The New Shadow, is sometimes interpreted as a possible equivalent or foreshadowing of an Antichrist or antichrist-like being as well as Sauron in his role as a deceiver and pretender who claimed to be Morgoth returned or Morgoth's rightful heir.
