In the 17th century of the Third Age Amlothdor (S."dwelling-place of the helm-flower") was an ancient place in Dunfearn, in the southwestern foothills of the Misty Mountains, southwest of the Ghost caves. At the time it was, despite it's Sindarin name, a small town largely inhabited by Dunmen, though the settlement originally would have been a gondorian war-camp.The natives called it Cair Amathaon (Du.: "Camp of the great Vassal") in their own language.
In the late third Age the ruins of Amlothdor served as an Orc-camp of the White Hand.
Notes[]
The place of Amlothdor in MERP is merely a placename without any closer description. It's location corresponds to the Warg dens at Pren Gwydh in LOTRO.
