Alkharîn Alkharialê was the head of House Alkharialê, one of the three most powerful families of Umbar, and served as Warden of the City during the time of the War of the Ring. A man of Gondorian descent, he dabbled into the magical knowledge of his Númenórean forefathers and was a member of the Wizards of Umbar. He also was secretly a confidant of Saruman the White, to whom Alkharîn had been an apprentice in his youth.
His name was the superficially haradrized form of the Quenya name Alcarin ("Glorious"), hinting to his conservative Gondorian ancestors.
