In Middle-earth, professional Actors (Q."Tyaror") worked in Númenórean theatres of Minas Ithil or Pelargir as well as in travelling acting troupes (or Strollers, also known as Barnstormers) like Wandering conscious Company, Morlug's Jesters, Circus Pallandi, the Cloudyheads, or the Brotherhood Company that moved from town to town in Gondor, Arnor, and Rhovanion.
The repertoire of acting troupes varied from Elvish and Númenórean dramas to folkloristic comedies and religious passion plays. In Eriador travelling Jugglers, mostly of Dunnish descent, traveled from town to town, often employing one or two Halflings as comedic gofers or jesters.
