The Awful Path led toward an abandoned copper mine through which the Heallstrem exited the mountains.Apparently played-out, the mine was abandoned.Its dangerous passages were pocked with pits which could claim an unwary traveller without notice.Typically, the pits were numerous, hard to find and extremely dangerous.They could serve as an entry to the Chamber of the awful Stair.
